Part of the Empowered For Giving series, preached at a Sunday 1st Service service

INTRODUCTION

Paul in the book of Second (2nd) Timothy, appears anxious to see his cherished devotee: Timothy (v4). He essentially refers to him as “My dear son”, a sign that their bond was sincere. This letter is said to have been Paul’s last letter; no wonder the keenness to see a son he truly treasures, even if for one last time. In this epistle, Paul finds it crucial, to give Timothy; last admonitions as to the deviations from the reliable Gospel, the incorrect teachings which were being taught in the Churches. Hence he pens a series of exhortations to faithfulness, and zeal for sound doctrine, and patience amidst trials. Paul further drills Timothy to be bold if not audacious, for he saw in him some signs of timidity. He also urges Timothy to fan into Flame the gift of God upon his life. In this study we explore what it means for us today to utilize our Spiritual gifts in a God honouring way.
